Patrick Siegling is the current Philanthropy Chair of the Delta
Gamma Chapter of Delta Tau Delta. The objective of Delt
philanthropy is to provide community service and raise funding
for various local and national charities. Delta Gamma's
two biggest annual events are the Delt Teddy Bear Run and
Date-a-Delt.
Every year for the Delt Teddy Bear Run, businesses all over
South Dakota are asked to contribute monetary charitable funding
for the Children's Hospital in Sioux Falls. Delt chapter members
then run and relay a teddy bear over 60 miles from the Delt
Shelter in Vermillion to the Children’s Care Hospital &
School in Sioux Falls. This gives Delts a great sense of pride
and accomplishment when we see the looks of happiness on the children's
faces when we arrive at the hospital to present the donation
that helps to make a difference in their lives.
Date-a-Delt is an annual auction, wherein the Delt brothers
are auctioned off to the highest bidder. The winner receives use
of a Delt for two hours of hard labor!
Delta Gamma participates many other smaller events with other
fraternities in addition to our own projects. Philanthropy
may not seem like a big deal to some, but for Delta Tau Delta,
philanthropic events play a huge role in our pursuit of
excellence as a Fraternity, a Chapter, and as individuals.
